Bridging the Digital Gap: A New Computer Lab for San Martín de Porres School

Published on May 18th

A child previously trapped with no opportunity for growth and no access to learning vital life skills like time management, personal responsibility, and independent organization, now faces a completely different future. Today, that transformation is entirely possible due to this digital learning project in José León Suárez, a highly urbanized area in Greater Buenos Aires.

The Project

To address the limited access to computers and reliable internet for many students who grew up in vulnerable conditions, a new computer lab was built at San Martín de Porres School, equipped with computers and reliable internet. The project included improvements to the building’s infrastructure, such as electrical and network installations, as well as the addition of modern equipment: 21 fully equipped computers, 48 chairs and shared work tables, and air conditioning, along with an improved classroom layout.

The before-and-after images below clearly show the project’s impact. A previously under-equipped, deteriorated space has been transformed into a functional, comfortable, and inspiring computer lab for students.

Impact on Students and Families

The initiative directly benefits 1,178 students and indirectly reaches over 4,700 family members. For many, this is their first opportunity to regularly access computers and educational technology. The space not only supports academic learning but also promotes digital literacy, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, key abilities for future education and employment.

Be Part of the Change

The computer lab was inaugurated in March 2026 and was met with excitement from students and staff. Beyond improving learning conditions, it represents a meaningful step toward reducing inequality and expanding opportunities. As the school begins to implement technology-based programs, including early programming education, the lab will become a central tool in empowering students to build new paths for their future.

Support initiatives like this and help expand access to education and technology for students who need them most, having a lasting impact on their lives. Together, we can continue building spaces that inspire learning, growth, and opportunity.
