Creating Spaces for Growth: A Lasallian Initiative in González Catán
In partnership with the Loyola Foundation, a transformative project took place in the district of La Matanza, specifically at the Armstrong Foundation School, located in the municipality of González Catán. This area faces deep infrastructural and social challenges, with an 80% poverty rate, which limits access to education, healthcare, and other essential services.
Guided by the Lasallian mission of offering a human and Christian education to those most in need, the project is the result of collaborative management between Loyola, La Salle International Foundation (USA), and Fundación La Salle Argentina. Thanks to this shared commitment, more than 600 children, adolescents, and young people from González Catán are now participating in this initiative. The project also indirectly benefits over 2,400 people by strengthening families, promoting community bonds, and nurturing hope.

With the building renovations and the creation of new facilities at Armstrong Foundation School, such as the Complementary Education Center (CEC), which serves children up to 12 years old, the project aims to strengthen educational trajectories through academic support, literacy, and the improvement of personal development by involving children and their families through play-based learning.

The CEC combines creativity, learning, and movement in a stimulating and safe environment where children are encouraged to explore and grow. For example, “The Cave” offers a quiet space for concentration and reflection. These small, peaceful areas are designed for one or two children, located away from activity areas, and provide an ideal setting for independent reading or writing.
The Makerspace is a modern and professionally equipped space designed to support the educational and personal development of adolescents and young people. This innovative environment accompanies their learning journeys through both structured and unstructured socio-educational and community-based activities, fostering socio-emotional growth and the formation of non-violent relationships.

Within this space, participants explore key topics such as cyberbullying, gender perspective, grooming, substance abuse prevention, participation, self-expression, body care, and care for our typical home.
Be a part of change. Support Lasallian initiatives and give every child a chance to grow. Consider making a donation to Fundación La Salle Argentina to support our care for young people in that region.
